Just wondering if anyone knows...
I didn't think it's genetic. No one in my family has it x
I don't think the exact method of inheritance is totally understood but I have endometriosis, as does my mum and her mum (my nana). Except no-one really knew what it was when it was bothering Nana in the 1950s and 60s.
My gynaecologist also acknowledged that, prior to my official diagnosis, that it was likely that I did have endometriosis because I had all the symptoms plus my mum has it.
But then again, my friend doesn't have endo, but her mum does. So, it's just one of those unpredictable things!
Some doctors say their might be a link but my gyno basically said there could be but we don't know for sure. No one in my family has been diagnosed with endometriosis but now I have they said they could have it due to also having some of the signs and symptoms.
It's a shame they really don't know much about this disease! Very frustrating, but fingers crossed we can't pass it down to our children (if we have any)
I was told it is genetic plus I have it, my Mum had it (but not her sister) and my Grandmother had it.
So as with anything even if it is genetic not 100 percent guaranteed it would be passed on. Xxx
