My visit to the gynae today...

Well it wasn't particulary good or bad news. It was pretty much no news :(

I had another internal, the spec was painful when it went in, and so was the examination. But shortly after the gynae told me he "doesn't think it's a gynae problem, but he will send me for a lap anyway" :( !!

I came out very upset that I still haven't got any answer. I've been passed back and forth from GP to scans and now to a gynae, just to be told no one knows what's going on!

He openly admitted he had no clue what was wrong, just that "he isn't convinced it's gynae, but maybe bowel related"

But even before he can book a lap, he said I need to lose 2 stone, so it's on hold for 6 months until I've lost weight.

I'm just so frustrated about it all, and my boyfriend is unsupportive, because the doctor discharged me until I lost weight my boyfriend said "there's nothing wrong with you otherwise he would have done something". And I feel like I'm losing hope.

I'm starting to feel like it's not worth it, and that in the end nothing will be wrong with me and all this pain is made up. I feel like I don't have any right to be complaining, or that my pain isn't as bad as I think it is.

I don't know what to do :(

Sorry about my rambling, I just wanted to get it all out, as I don't feel very supported anywhere else... I feel like I know my body, and that my problem is gynae as I get internal pains and cramps/ stabbing pain on my bikini line. But the doctor said everything looks healthy and normal. I'm just torn about what to think!

Keep telling doctors see every doctor u need if that's what it takes, ask at your doctors surgery if you have a doctor who specialises in women's health..... My doctor is great she listens and does things and believes me because she knows about endometriosis and everything

Hi

Please don't be too disappointed with the outcome as he's not saying you can't have the lap but you need to lose weight first. Imagine if he put you on the list but the anaesthetist refused because you are high risk or you developed complications as a result, 6 months seems a long time but it really isn't. I have endometriosis, adenomyosis and bladder pain syndrome (IC). IC can present with the same symptoms you describe including painful internal examinations which is why a good gynae will actually consider this in addition to endometriosis. I'm under a good gynae who does everything she can to help but please don't be under the impression that once you have a diagnosis of endometriosis every pain you have will be caused by that alone. Most endometriosis sufferers have more than one cause to their pain which need to be managed individually and are not all gynaecological in nature and refuse to accept this. I hope this helps but don't give up

Hey, sorry to hear your having such a tough time. I know the feeling. I had bad stomache pains went hospital, sent home, 2 days later back to hospital, ultrasound showed nothing, few days later back to hospital, ultrasound and internal ultrasound showed nothing. Strong painkillers and sent home. been back and fourth to doctors and the hospital and they have mentioned endo. I read online that endo don't always show on scans and need a lap to comfirm it for deffinately! but im still pushing for mine. at one point they thought it was my bowels too but now they are thinking endo. I wish you the best of luck at losing weight and going for ur lap. contact me if u wanna talk. keep smiling. xx

Thank you everybody for the kind replies! I really do appreiciate them right now. It's hard to get support from people when you have a pain no one understand or can see!

I'm sticking with a healthy diet, and I have a gym pass but the pain stops me from going as often as I would like, but I'm going to start some classes and hopefully build up!

Kayjayne, my GP is an ex-gynae so she knows a bit I assume! At first she didn't think it was gynae too, and said it's IBS, but she listened to my concerns. The consultant I saw said "All doctors say it's IBS when they don't know what it is" :(

It just brings you down when you don't know what it is! I started to think I was imagining it all or I'm over reacting about the pain. Quick question; If I had a lap, would they look at everthing? Not just for gynae problems, would they also look for any bowel or abdomen problems? That way if anything was wrong at all they could spot it?

Also, do you think it's worth going back to my GP for an MRI or CT? Even an x-ray? I've never had anything other than pelvic US before, even though they're convined it's my bowel. I'm going back to ask for a smear anyway, just to rule out everything.
