This has been discussed a number of times - not for a while now - but it has been talked about, use the search box on the green bar at the top of the page and type in teeth or gums to find the threads of discussion.

IF you are taking any Birth Control pills, ask the GYN IF the pills are the cause of the gum problems.

It is rare, but it does happen. Some signs are swelling of the face where the gums hurt.

webmd.com/oral-health/guide...

the above web page will display a sentence as follows: "The use of oral birth control products may cause similar gum problems."

I could NOT take "any" birth control pills because of excess pain on my gums; my face would swell. Also, make sure that the swelling does NOT trigger separation of teeth (it will take years for this to slowly occurr).

You must see a GYN for this problem.

My dentists would NOT believe the fact that gum problems are caused by Birth Control Pills; you must bring in literature from the web to show them.

I hope this helps someone out there on the web

Thank you for your replies ladies.my front teeth have already seperted and my dentist said I need to see a dental specialist which will cost nearly 800.00 for treatment to my gums.I simply can't afford this and yes I have been on microgynan for many years to help my endo. Xx

I have awful gum problems for 2-3 years now and they're bleeding every day while brushing but my dentist told that the only condition that coudl affect it is...leukemia...I was on mycrogynon for couple of years, changed to depoprovera 4 moths ago will see if it helps but for now there is no change.

I asked my GP and my gynea and my dentist if birth control can have anything to do with gums and they all said 'what a load of rubbish'. Really glad i found your post, I will do further research now x
