I had endo removed 10 days ago my period is due tomorrow. I can feel all the usual aches and pains I normally get when its about to start. Should this first period be better or does it take a while? The consultant didnt say and I'm not due to see him till end of jan ? Really worried this was my last hope.
How soon after a lap and removal of endo ... - Endometriosis UK
How soon after a lap and removal of endo will my period pains improve I'm worried the surgery has not helped.!!!?
Hi there, I wouldn't worry too much - I had my first period after a lap last week and it was hideous (actually worse than normal!)!
I think it's unfortunately one of those things that will get worse before it gets better, as you're still healing inside from the work they did.
Good luck with the consultant in Jan x
Thanks that's reassuring hopefully in a month or two we will both have pain free periods !
Sorry but lap ops for endo do not make periods pain free- they remove endo and hopefully the pains from that are eased because the are no longer bleeding and the blood from them is no longer there to irritate the other orgns nd tissue it used to land on- but your uterus will still cramp and still be painful as the muscles contract and expand and so on. Surgery on endo doesn't resolve that issue which is perfectly normal for periods. What you might want to now consider is not actually having periods at all - which does stop the period pains, because you don't haave the period cramps.
Personally I stopped mine by having a mirena coil installed - which has been liberating - but there are other ways too.
I had my lap in june this year and well I had two periods before going on the pill and it didn't make much difference am on prostap now to stop my periods x
