Has anyone ever had a sudden bout of excessive hair growth? I am not currently on any medication.

I have always felt hairier than average but managed with waxing and plucking but today i have noticed darker fine hairs on my neck. I have just had my first period since last december as i have been on the decapeptyl injection. Any advice would be wonderful.x

Normal but not a great side effect after GnRH or from Mirena - not sure which.. all my hair- whiskers, eyebrows, all hair grows much thicker and quicker than they did before the drug treatment. It's very annoying- but plucking is now a daily routine. strays cropped up on my neck and elsewhere. The same ones keep growing back on overdrive it seems. Eyebrows are the worst though, they grow so fast I have taken to trimming them with scissors. I never had to go that before. I never really ever had much underarm hair till the mirena/ GnRH, now it needs shaving off twice a week.

Hiya,

I'm on the injections too, I've never personally had this but a friend of mine has. She hasn't got Endo but has got other gyne issues. She swears by a hair removing cream that she can only get on prescription, that she uses on her face. It is very expensive though and her consultant prescribed it, but I remember when she went to her GP to get it again on prescription her GP refused as it was too expensive! She went through hell trying to get it again, and had to go back to her consultant just for the cream!

I'm sure its not the same everywhere, where I live our prescriptions are free so maybe the GP would not prescribe it because of this? Obviously its a cosmetic thing but it really affected her self image and confidence so had a big impact on her quality of life, she did manage to get the cream again! I can't remember what it was called but I will see if I can find out, if I do I will send it to you.

Other than that...as Impatient said its a matter of daily maintenance I suppose, and another nasty side effect of what we go through. Good luck x
