yes it can grow anywhere....but if you do get pain just under the ribs there are many much more common reasons for that than endo. No.1 is biliary colic (Gall Stone pain) which also happens to his us ladies in the same age bracket as we are having our endo issues...but is much more common than endo and applies to men and to women. Then there are stomach ulcers which can cause pains, gastric reflux, lung disorders, liver disorders etc.

Endo while it can be found around the diaphragm will follow the same cycle as endo elsewhere and only be active when you are having a period. If your pains are at other times of the month then far more likely to be part of the digestive process. However.. it can be that the digestive process is impacted by the menstrual one.

For example if you get a lot of tummy bloat before a period, that can push the gall bladder (which is filed with stones in most of us women) in to awkward positions making the stones fall in to the bottle neck pipe that is supposed to release bile in to the food you have eaten at supper time. This gets blocked in the pre-period week or two causing intense indigestion type pain just under the ribs in the middle or to the right hand side shortly after a big meal. The pain lasts for a few hours and will ease off when the blockageclears enough and the swollen gallbladder returns to normal size.

Look up websites on describing Biliary Colic and if that matches your symptoms speak to your GP about it. Problem is easily resolved by the removal of the gall bladder, though waiting lists are verylong, it being the No.1 reason for tummy surgery in the UK for men and women.

If it does turn out to be endo, then that would normally be excised (cut away) from whatever tissue it is on in the diaphragm area. It is not very common for endo to be located there, but certainly not unheard of.
