My Laporoscopy is fast approaching and I'm terrified! Any advice?

I have an anxiety disorder so im pretty nervous about most things. I guess my main concern is about the general anaesthetic, and my complete lack of control. Did anyone else feel like this? Any advice on anything about the procedure would be a great help.

I am the same, totally freaked out by the GA. However, really try not to worry, the worst thing is honestly the constipation afterwards

The Aneasthesiologist will come and see you before and explain what will happen. If there is anything specifically that concerns you tell them then. I would also recommend taking a good book because the wait when you get to the hospital can make you feel more anxious.

Virtually everyone feels very anxious and the staff are used to it, im sure you will find them lovely. Tell them you are nervous and they will make even more effort to reassure you.

Good luck, and honestly I would rather have a GA than see the dentist any day of the week

I had my lap last monday, was exact same as you but everyone was really lovely they try make you feel comfortable and honestly tell them how you are feeling. I didnt take a book but lucky their was a few of us waiting for different things so we ended up sitting having a good chat about who was in for what and how sexy the gowns and stockings are lol this was my first every op and i really was terrified about it but once i was their and talking to everyone i did feel alot better about it all xx

Thank you, I have my pre-assessment today so ill mention my concerns then. I have had three operations before but my last one was when I was 12. I guess this is something most women worry about anxiety disorder or not.
