Zoladex injection: Hi ladies- having this... - Endometriosis UK
Zoladex injection
Hi
I am on prostap, which is a different brand to zoladex but very similar drug, like you I was absolutely terrified of starting the injections and put it off for about 6 months. However, it has been a god send, dont get me wrong it took a while to kick in and I have suffered with side effects (hot flushes and achey joints being the worst) but in comparison to how I was before I went on it (pretty much couldnt leave the house!) I feel like I have a normal life again! Unfortunately its not a cure and I know I will be back where I started when I finish it so im trying to make the most of the relief whilst it lasts.
I started it in December and im having 12 doses, as its over 6 months I started hrt last month, which was interesting in itself as gave me headaches but has settled down.
The one thing with these drugs is that they seem to effect everyone differently and no-one can know for sure in advance the effect it will have on them and they are serious drugs, if you are worried about it I would recommend that you do your research first and consider if there are any other options you could try first.

I have had several courses of 6 months over the years and completely understand your concerns so would recommend having the add back therapy with it which does help reduce them. Black Cohosh from the health food shop can also help.
To answer your question though...the answer is yes I completely stop bleeding whilst on it and so also found it drastically reduces my pain levels so it is much more bearable.
Good luck and just be aware your tummy may be a bit sore for about 24 hours after having the injection whilst the pellet settles X
Hi, I'm on decapeptyl 3monthly injections (different brand but does same thing) & since 3 - 4 weeks into my 1st injection I've had no endo symptoms at all - basically I'm pain free & have been for over 2 months (just had my 2nd) I'm not on hrt add back at the moment but I will be once I see my gynae consultant in September (will have had 6mth course by then) if she decides to continue with the injections. At the moment the plan is for me to continue with them until I'm 40 (18 months time) then hysterectomy.
I have had awful hot flushes & night sweats, also some achey joints (mainly my knees) but I will take them over the pain I was in any day! I feel like me again & I haven't been able to say that in at least 10 years.
Everyone reacts differently to them but if they work its a godsend.
Good luck & I hope that it works for you.
