Hello, Im new to this forum and at this point totally confused. I have a sister who has had nut allergy for 17 years and growing up with her ect I think I talked myself into having it to. I spoke to the GP and because it started causing me anxiety she had the RAST test done to help me realise nothing was wrong. It came back as being sensitive to Peanuts and more so Hazelnuts (I do suffer from Hayfever too). All other nuts were negative on the results. I booked an appointment for answers ect but she says I dont have a nut allergy as I havent had a severe reaction -now Im totally confused. She said eat as you were before but as you can imagine im too scared. Any advise please?

Nut allergy/RAST test results
I have hay fever but nut allergy, I am not sure because of different reaction at different time.!
My allergy started when I was small but no one understood it as allergy. In UK the very first time I had an allergic reaction was for Jaffa cakes!, after 15 years in UK I developed hay fever. I take antihistamine to help me.
After reading a lot of research papers I have a better understanding of allergy. The problem is it can be a single item or a combination of few items. This summer I stopped taking antihistamine and I found I get reaction to fresh fruits and fresh veg, this is because of the protein in them is a problem for me.
GP's do not have any understanding on my allergy. You can ask for a blood test to check how bad is you allergy and see if it is necessary to carry a anaphylaxis pen. I had blood test done to make sure I am OK.
You can keep a food diary, write down all the comments on a daily basis to identify your problem. This process helped me eliminate some food.
For me perfume, cleaning products, small of fruits, pealing veg opening a felt tip pen, opening a news paper, and many more can star me off!!!, start of runny nose, wet eyes for an hour.
I am waiting for an allergy test appointment, this is because the medication I used to get is no longer available via NHS, I can buy it on line!, I hope I can get back to the medication I am used to on NHS.
Hi this sounds ver familiar to my son with reactions to some raw fruits and veg also hayfever also asthmatic after a few trips to the peadiatrician he was diagnosed with pollen food syndrome
Hi my son is on a lot of medication as he has had asthma problems since he was a baby but only became allergic to all nuts at the the age of 7 and over time we found he was allergic to a few other things too but for his allergies he is on citrizene for small reactions but he does have an epipen for the reaction to nuts as the allergy to nuts is severe and goes into anaphylactic shock so it's basically avoid the foods we know of on the veg side it's normally ok when cooked just not to be eaten raw he is also on a nasal spray called avamys which I find works better than the cetrizine where it's the pollen he is allergic too in my case the nasal spray works better than oral antihistamines
Thank you. I was on Zertik, brand medication (citrizine). There are a number of manufacturers for citrizine, for some reason they all work differently to Zertik.
Asthma runs in my family, when my son was small we ere in and out of hospitals, as a grown man with three children he is OK but there is some problem in my family for small fish!, we all can reach very bad after eating some fish.
Tow out of three boys do have allergy issues, not that bad.
In today's Sunday mail there was a Q&A on allergy. at the moment I am keeping a note of all my allergy reactions for my appointment.
Thank you for giving me all the information.
I hope your appointment comes through soon so you can know what to avoid I would say before you go for tha appointment don't take any medication for allergies for a 48 before the appointment so try to avoid anything that might cause a reaction as they will not do a skin pin prick test they will instead do a blood test
