Hi there,

I was curious if we can discuss about sinusitis here. I do have it for quite a long time and i manage it basically with eucalyptus and oregano essential oil. If somebody is in interested I can go further and explain. I am interested to see how one manages it.

thank you.

Please elaborate! 😊

My sinus problems aren't too bad but my first port of call after nasal sprays is my neti pot. I haven't used it much since reading that the water needs to be boiled first, but that's just laziness.

Thanks

Hi,

I do use neti pot too and it is fine but its effect is very moderate and doesn't solve the problem. To solve the problem you should use inhalation with essential oils, eucalyptus oil and oregano oil. They are very powerful and with instant effect. I do use them regularly since one year and i have had no sinus pain since then. Also one polyp that appeared several months after the operation has disappeared thanks to that remedy. Of course I do have some disturbances of the sinuses sometimes and that is understandable considering I am an old allergic and the city I live in is quite much polluted.

I have taken all the possible antihistamines and steroids and antibiotics in last 20 years of my allergy history and none of them helped, just made it worse converting the allergy to sinusitis. Antihistamines and steroides do dry the sinuses while they are meant to stay wet.

Essential oils i mentioned are the solution.

Anybody knows any other solution?

Thanks. Do you just use boiling water in a pan with a towel or any specific gadget? I have one from Betterware or somewhere similar, but the design doesn't lend well to comfortable inhalation.

I have used Olbas oil in there previously but not eucalyptus specifically. Not sure if they are the same thing? I've never even heard of oregano oil!

Conversely to your exoerience, my sinus problems improved as my eye allergy started. I always have tissues with me though and am constantly blowing my nose.

Hi Aly,

Use an iron teapot please, put 2 glases of drinking water in there, add about 10 drops of eucalyptus oil or 5 drops oregano oil or a combination of both 7+3 and put it to boil in medium temperature. When it starts to vapor inhale it till the oil smell is vanished. Then you should have sneezing and you can do a nose cleansing with your neti pot.

Please note that the vapor should come out of the iron pot only from the pipe.

Olbas is okay but it is very moderate and it is usually meant for children.

Oregano is the strongest but it should be white oregano from the mediterranean region (Albania, Greece, Turkey, etc), not red oregano. Also look for organic one.

Bear in mind that sinusitis is always worsened until you intervene to unblock it. Don't forgest to make an ORL examination with camera to see inside; if there are polyps and/or septum deviations it might be required surgery. However surgery is not the happy end of the movie.

Doctors don't tell this things because they usually simply don't know it, they don't have it in their procedures.

So easy. :)

I am curious to know what medications your doctor has prescribed you in the past?

I've only been prescribed nasal sprays but my sinusitis wasn't chronic. The spray I have currently is Mometasone but I don't need to use it that often.

I have used it also in the past. It is a steroid. Its purpose is to decrease inflamation. It does dry the nose.

I could see how these essential oils would be beneficial in helping your sinusitis if they were inhaled using steam or even put in a neti pot (nasal irrigation). I used a nasal spray (sinusoothe) which contained essential oils and it cured my sinus infection extremely efficiently.

There are many Asian species that can help. If there is a local Asian shop have a look for fresh ones. Cinnamon, turmeric, green and re chillies, fenugreek (Methi, green leaf) and many more. I have been using this for 35 years for my problems!

I use cinnamon powder and fenugreek powder in porridge with honey!!!

I have bacterial sinusitis so cannot use a steriod spray. I have found winteroil has VASTLY improved the sinus totally crippling pressure headaches debilitating couch recovery etc....

It is basically liquid aspirin, which is a non steriod anti inflammitory, and also anti bacterial.

You can buy it as 'bells muscle rub' in a tube which is 8% pure methyl salicate (winter oil) for 99p in UK home and bargain stores.

Just place a spot of gel under your nostrils and go about your day, as it evaporates due to body heat you will breath it in. This stuff also contains euclaptus oil.

I bought a litre of pure methly salicate but as a teaspoon of this is the same as 40 asprin and can kill, you are way better off with the muscle gel.
