Stage 3

I have 50 egfr but I do have muscle so the high estimate is 58. I am 55 years old in june and have a 20 year old daughter I would love to see grow up. Do you think it is possible to stay in stage 3 for 20 years until I am 75?

In brief, Yes! If you do something about it with natural treatment. See a qualified Nutritional Therapist that specialises in ckd. My mum's eGFR has almost doubled to ~60 since 2017 nephrectomy by following an NT protocol.

Yes, with lifestyle changes, diet and exercise. I'm stage 3 for 5 years now and have stayed consistent with the above changes to save myself and see my babies and grandbabies grow up.

With prescribed CKD diet and exercise my CKD progression has slowed over past 6 years. I was diagnosed at level 3b. I am age 81.

You will find websites that give such predictions. Ignore them. We are all unique. I'm sure you have already had all the testing and scans to see if a cause can be identified as to why you are in the "50s" for egfr (such as blood pressure, tumor, infections, etc., etc.). Always remember also that we have two kidneys. It may be just one deficient kidney and the other not. So the question you ask can not be answered. And most importantly recall that each and every day there a medical advances. What is a disease today can become just a minor medical condition 5 years from now. It is natural to think of life span when you get the news you have something wrong. Follow your doctors advice and don't try to predict tomorrow, or 5 years from today or 15 years, etc.

I’ve been stage 4 eGFR 17-23 since 1996. It’s possible but if you are lifting hard, or supplementing it won’t be. It’s more about aerobic than anaerobic with CKD. Finally get the new eGFR test which is actually what all labs will use here in the US and it’ll be adopted in the UK as well, eGFR with Cystatin C not Creatinine. Neither are tremendously accurate plus/minus30% pd mGFR but the hew test using Cystatin C

Here is the info: NKF and ASN has recommended the Cystatin C eGFR to eliminate the need for race based eGFR measurements using creatinine.

I'm lifting hard but not suplimenting. The new doctor thinks my numbers may be off because of the muscle. Thanks so much.

That’s common as creatinine is easily affected by many things weight lifting especially heavy lifting (high weight, low reps) is well known to raise creatinine. Here is another good link if interested:
