hi my mum is a 90 year old lady with 1 kidney - her baseline gfr in January 2023 was around 40.
She was taken by me to A&E one week ago with suspected acute kidney injury after a course of water tablets & 2 courses of anti biotics ( for possible urine infection ) led to dehydration, nausea and vomiting bile.
Her kidney function gfr was 24 on hospitalisation gfr now reading 27.
The nausea and bile gagging continues she is on anti sickness meds. Hospital seem unsure what’s wrong and are going to CT scan for potential blockage tomorrow .
Any advice - does the ongoing nausea, gagging & bile gaging sound like a kidney related problem ? I’m concerned hosp may discharge her with anti sickness meds back Into community without a clear diagnosis or plan.
GP is lovely but seems unable to manage her symptoms or work with her kidney effectively.

May I ask if your mother is on any tablet form of painkillers.
Although I am not your mothers age (73) after being diagnosed with CKD 3/4 in 2020 I had to stop taking the long term meds that I had been on to control my arthritic pains. So all they could give me was painkillers in tablet form. I was sick for about 9 months and lost a lot of weight. Between my renal consultant and gp they managed to put it down to the painkillers and now use a weekly patch. Ok I still occasionally am sick but only a one off. I am not a medic but just thought I would let you know my experience. Hope they soon sort you mother out.
