What has helped you?

My GFR has been around 45 for several years but the trend is decreasing. I recently removed all animal products from my diet. After about 4 months my GFR was 42, my lowest ever. Then I added chitosan for 10 weeks. GFR increased to 46.

I don't know what caused my kidney problems. I have seen that people are able to increase their GFR by decreasing demand on kidneys through diet. I don't have phosphorus, potassium or high blood pressure problems. What has helped me protect your kidneys?

I don't have a renal doctor. My GP is a great guy but he only knows the standard information about CKD. He knows I study things out so he supports my opinions. Pleased don't suggest a renal doctor. I had one 10 years ago. He told me one week my tests showed stage 4 kidney failure. After I eliminated eggs from my diet it went back to normal. His only commend on the change was maybe I had worked out a lot the day before. I was 55 years old and obese!

I was diagnosed at CKD level 3b. My Doctor put me on CKD diet. My sodium, phosphorus and potassium levels were high. The diet has improved my eGFR blood test results , and the blood levels of sodium, phosphorus and potassium are in normal range.

I now eat whole food, plant base, no oil and my egfr is slowly increasing after just 8 weeks. My BP has had a huge drop. I also now have a renal dietician which has been wonderful. Sounds as if yu are doing the right thing

Great that things are improving with your diet and have a good renal dietitian. Keep us posted.

You may have better luck with a different renal doctor . Try going online and look up where and when they were educated . Also if pts like this is that renal doctor .

It would be beneficial to see a different renal doctor, one you like and trust.
