Is there any one on this group who lift weight and how bad is it for kidney disease i am on stage 3b, as my doctor always says that exercise like walking and cycling is better but without reasonable explanation why.

I was also into weight lifting but I stopped though I’m at stage 2. The thing is when you do weights muscle breakdown happens, as you know the repair process is what grows the muscles, but the muscle breakdown also increases creatinine in the blood and that’s harmful to kidneys.

More to do with the intensity of the exercise than the type of exercise.

Don’t do it just keep to steady walking and general day to day chores else your creatine will go thru the roof and gfr down!

What kind of weight lifting are you doing Ahmad. Are you lifting to bodybuild or just keeping fit

My nephrologist said it’s fine to weight lift in fact it’s good for us as we age. I am not using heavy weights but am building strength through higher reps. Of course everyone’s situation is different so consult your doc

Every time I consult him about it he says walking and cardio is the best option without reasonable justification like you will gain weight and that's not good, that's why I want to see if people here lifit find it bad, apearntly most of people find it good
