Hi Sam,

Hope that you are doing well and thinking positively!

As far as I know, there is no reason why you can't buy travel insurance. I know that in the US most credit card companies give you flight insurance if you pay for your flight with their credit card. People travel for business with CKD every day.

Life insurance may be a bit more difficult to obtain depending upon the company. Speak to your agent to be sure.

Hope this helps!

B.

I don't know how it works in Canada, but here in the US there is no problem. When purchasing your airline tickets for a flight, there is always the option for travel insurance. I don't recall any questions even asked regarding your health. The travel insurance allows you to change dates of your trip, or if you needed to cut short your trip and return home early. We have always taken out the travel insurance, even now that I am 20 years post transplant.

Enjoy travel!

Sam, you shouldn't even be diagnosed with CKD if your GFR is above 60. Your GFR seems to be above 60, you don't have what would be considered CKD yet.
