GFR above 60 But ACR way too high, what to do?

Hi All,

hope all of you are following diet patterns and trying to live a sound life. My GFR has come as 62 (was 59/58 3 months back), so it improved a bit. Creatinine at 1.32 mg/dl. But ACR (microalbumin to creatinine ratio) came way too high, microalbumin came at 352 mg/l when recommended is less than 20, what can be the reason for such a high value microalbumin when creatinine is almost ok? Any idea or suggestions what to do in this case? I am trying to follow common CKD diets for last 3/4 months.

Hi Hazzaz,

It depends on the test but I found this and it said that a normal range was from 30–300 mg of albumin per 24 hours.... so you are just a bit high. It could be related to what you ate that day or what you did, like lots of exercise. Did the doctor seem concerned?

Thanks a lot Bassetmommer. Its a spot collection, so it says in the medscape site its more than 300 mcg/mg creatinine thats abnormal whereas mine came 352 mg/l in a test in bangladesh, so not sure how they can be compared. I got another test in UK 3 months back URINE ALBUMIN:CREATININE RATIO

which has 115 mg/mmol. Guess thats not good, right?

Hi hazzaz.

Have you seen a nephrologist.

What I gathered till now is, dependance on animal protein and less of salt is very important in managing albuminuria.

My ACR is at 43,nirmal is less than 30.

I have opted for himalayan rock salt instead of the regular salt, and animal protein just once a day. Be it fish or chicken. And strictly no deals or lentils. And trying to avoid milk and it's products.

Hope this helps.

Hi Saaba, I am having some milk during breakfast cereal and an egg white(no yolk). Usually having chicken/fish once a day max size of a handful. My GFR and creatinine seems not too bad, but the ACR is coming abnormally high 115 mg/mmol in a spot test. Even after diet change my GFR has increased a bit but ACR is way too high and not reducing, really concerning me.
