Progression of ckd..... Now stage 4

I have stage 4 kidney failure, I am 30 years old.

5 yrs ago my gfr was 50(creatinine 1.7),

3 years ago my gfr was 39(creatinine 2.2) but has decreased to 28 now(creatinine 2.85)

My kidney failure is the result of my hyperactive immune system.. Lupus nephritis is the name of the kidney disease.

Is this decline in gfr normal?

I don't know the reason of the decline. I have nephrologist who says my kidney failure is stable. I am concerned that the decline is happening so fast. Has this happened to anyone else?

In the initial stages, I was on autoimmune suppressive drugs but from 3 years, my nephrologist has only prescribed me blood pressure medications and diuretics.

He never asked me to change my diet habits. On most days, I consume white meat in the form of chicken. Egg is my other favourite diet.

Am I doing right?

My nephrologist seem not much concerned.

Hello Drakula, I believe the dietary info that Saifomar and Bassetmommer has given you regarding white chicken, protein and eggs is very sound advice. Perhaps you could ask for a dietetic consultation to help you with your daily diet if you remain concerned. However your Consultant Nephrologist knows your medical history so be guided by them.

Take care and keep us informed as to how you are getting on.

Best wishes,

MAS Nurse and Moderator.

I wonder about the eggs. We all know we are supposed to keep our daily protein level within daily value requirements or less. To avoid protein. A single egg provides 11% of that daily amount of protein for a male.

Hi, I think if me, I would find a specialist. Try consuming more water, lower the salt, no pain medications.
