Hello, I am CKD stage 4 too. I was only diagnosed in April after a routine blood test so nobody knows how long my kidneys have been going downhill. Since the diagnosis I have been very careful with my diet and so far they have remained stable and I actually feel a lot better than I did prior to April. There is an excellent book that I would suggest you buy. It is called "Eating well with kidney failure" by Helena Jackson and you can get it on Amazon. I also spoke to a renal dietician at my hospital and she looked at my various blood readings and was able to give me some advice so I would suggest that to you as well. Everyone is different but for me I have significantly reduced animal based proteins, cut out salt and processed meats, reduced alcohol and cola. Seems to be helping me. Best of luck.
Dear, Why u reduced animal based protein? These proteins are called 1st class because, kidneys need less filter thees type of protein such as eg ( white) . chicken, fish etc. U can sure from another source and inform me Pls. Maybe I am wrong. Regards
I still eat fish, egg whites and occasionally chicken but I don't eat the red meat such as beef and pork or lamb. I read that the kidneys have to work harder to remove the waste products from the blood from animal based proteins which is why I decide to cut down on this. I know everyone is different and I am not health expect but I have to say that since moving to this diet I feel a lot better than I did a few months ago.
