Miracle on the way?

Hello, My son had been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure on August 2015. Miraculously, he has stayed in a relatively good health condition all these years up to the point that he even plays soccer with his friends. What could be the miracle my friends? His regular three-month visit check-ups show that his gfr is at 14% and his HB levels have constantly remained at 12.0. Should I expect any better results?

Well I was suddenly Stage 4 from being prescribed too many NSAIDS for too many years. If they had given me an opiate instead, this would not have happened! Anyway, I prayed and prayed, and drank fresh lemon w/ stevia ice water and 6 weeks later was at Stage 3. :) How old is your son?

WOW! Sounds like me, except I'm 67 yrs old. Why are there not more warnings about ibuprofin? Stage 4 out of the blue! What happened to stage 1, 2, 3? I'm really scared - had an ultrasound this morning and am scheduled for a biopsy on Wednesday. Hadn't heard about the lemon juice - I thought we were supposed to avoid citrus? The CKD diet is so confusing but I'm trying my hardest. You hang in there Sunshine and keep us posted.

Hi Kyla...... My husband was diagnosed with grade 4 CKD also in 2015 his gfr 23 at present. His HB also 12 which is fine.... You ask if your son can expect higher results. The answer is yes, his gfr can rise, also drop, but best thing is not to panic.. My husband is very active, this morning cutting back shrubs, weeding etc in the garden and totally filled the brown bin ready for emptying mid-week. Some days he feels he wants to do things and other days he has a rest.... He has never been on a kidney diet but like exercise it is a case of all things in moderation....The worst problem that is not always avoidable is picking up infection which hits his kidneys very hard and anti-biotics also do not help his kidney function. However we live in the real world and can only try and stay infection free.....We go abroad on holiday and apart from assistance at the airport manage to have an enjoyable time.... He has naturally low blood pressure and sometimes it drops too low but that is managed reasonably well...I hope your son has a good quality of life and he remains at Grade 4 for a very long time. Best wishes to you and your family. Love Belle x
