Trying to become pregnant and CKD

Hello! I am in my 30s and was recently diagnosed with CKD3 caused by IgA nephropathy. I would like to become pregnant in the next year. Does anyone have experience they can share with fertility and CKD? Is it possible to become pregnant? What should I be considering? Thanks in advance!

This is really something you should discuss with your renal consultant. I wouldn’t have thought you would have any more problem fertility-wise than anyone without CKD and IgA nephropathy but the risks to both you and baby up to and including childbirth would be higher. However, I’m not a Dr, just someone with CKD3b and a sole kidney. Do get expert advice, and lots of good luck wishes.

I would guess that, in fairness to any future child, you need to take into account any progression of your CKD.
