Candersatan med!!!
Jennifer, Candesartan is of the same class of BP drugs as Losartan. The latter is known to increase creatinine levels (I have personal experience) and, as the eGFR is worked out based on creatinine clearance, the eGFR will correspondingly reduce when creatinine increases. Speak to your Dr because if it is the medication that has caused a 10 point drop in eGFR then you may need to be switched to another medication.
Thankz for ur response I change to this new dr and all the meds he has giving me had but my gfr down he had prescribe me ramipril valsartan and now that medication candersatan I'm really concern idk if u should switch the dr or get feedback from my old dr again like before really worried
Ask for referral to a consultant nephrologist if you aren’t happy with your present Dr. You need at the very least to have your eGFR monitored frequently to ensure it isn’t on a downward trend. Also, you could ask a good pharmacist to check all the medications you are taking for compatibility with each other and for any known adverse side effects to the kidneys,
My Dr changed my medication from Lisinopril to Candesartan to improve my kidney function, all medications come with their problems it would be worth looking at other things you’re taking as well. Candesartan also offers some kidney protection, double edged sword! It’s all about risk versus benefit.
