CKD 3, initially improved, but now deteriorating.

I have extensive medical history. I have Diabetes due to having my pancreas removed (plus my gall bladder and spleen) due to Chronic Pancreatitis.

Then i developed a blockage to the outlet of my right kidney, and initially had a stent put into my right ureter to keep the outlet open. After 6 weeks the stent was removed, but the severe pain returned, and i had to have another stent put in until they could operate. They planned to fix the blockage, but were not able to do so and had to remove the kidney.

As i have Diabetes, i have my bloods checked every year as part of my annual review. A few years ago I was diagnosed with CKD3, but gradually improved. Last year my eGFR was 89.

This year i have had several vague symptoms, including feeling really exhausted. My eGFR was 54, and when repeated a week later 52. Since then my GP has spoken to the renal doctors, and i have had more blood and urine tests and i'm waiting for a scan. i'm really worried, as i only have one kidney.

Apologies for the long message. Any advice, or words of encouragement?

Aww suerosie...it always feels scary when there's a significant drop. I am not sure medically how things vary with only one kidney but I'm guessing they'll want to find out why it's dropping &will do their best to keep it going for as long as.

I too have chronic pancreatitis. I haven't had my pancreas out although my consultant says it's a dead organ now. I've also had my gall bladder out, &diabetes secondary to pancreatitis. Had stents in&out my bike ducts years ago. My eGFR is currently 38%.I also have bad asthma but they think it's all related into a disease called IgG4 systemic disease...very rare!!

You are the first person I have come across in a similar situation!!

What caused your pancreatitis?

Hello madonbrew,

Thanks for replying. You are the first person that i have come across in a similar situation too.

My pancreatitis is ideopathic (no known cause). Although i did have gall stones at the start, but my specialist doesn't think that gall stones cause chronic pancreatitis! What caused your pancreatitis?

I have Asthma too, although it is well-controlled. What about you?
