ah ha, I had that and I had my thyroid levels checked. It turned out it was too high, but if it wasn't that I was going to be put on a 24 hour heart monitor as it might have been linked to my phosphate levels that's what I gathered from my Dr, but after reading about the Bicarbonate of Soda I am not so sure as I don't appear to get told anything!). I get palpitations every now and then, like you say, butterflies and a warm feeling all over.

Could have been too much calcium too?

Have you been tested for anemia ? just a thought. I had awful chest palpitations, amongs other things, and found out I was low on B12

I have stage 3 CKD and sometimes anemia can come with kidney disease.

Like I said just a thought.

Hi thanks for all replays , I've had my bloods done about 2 months ago everything OK , the problem I've got is my gp doesn't have a clue , she told me last time I saw her she was at a loss on how to treat me , which doesn't give me a loving feeling lol, she is writing to renal consultant , and will get back to , I'm just glad other people are having similar effects , thought I was losing the plot , I'm a normal head screwed on the right way kind of a person , think I will try docs again

I have anaemia as well (because of the kidney) - but what I think (and I am just an uneducated layman) is that the palpitations you sense could be high blood pressure - you could try using a monitor. I am on blood pressure reducing medication, but my blood pressure is all over the place; I was reading 210/170 at one stage - and I knew when my blood pressure was high, from the "whoshing sound" in my ears (and headaches). I have had an iron infusion and now have had the existing stent on the ureter (to remedy a blockage) replaced. The consultant seems to think that the one there before had slipped out of place a little; since then, my BP has come down, and fluctuates far less. Googie, I agree with your suggestion of too much calcium too - I was on very high dose Calcium pre ckd for severe arthritis, and, strangely enough, it was my pharmacist who suggested that Calcium was probably causing the blockage to the ureter.

I guess maybe I could do with limescale remover... lol

I get my first set of bloods results this evening after the cystoscopy and iron infusion, so I am really hoping that things will start improving now - but experience has taught me not to be too optimistic.

Hi thanks for message , doc put me on blood pressure tabs last month, but I might add , my blood pressure has always been normal so far when checked at docs, but the doc put me on them anyway , which I wasn't happy about , the way I look at it if its OK leave alone, when I went back for more bloods the tablets didn't do anything still normal, so that's when she said I don't know how to treat you ,then said she would write to renul consultant to see what to do, I told the doc about how I was feeling but seemed to ignore it , this is the problem with docs because they call it the silent disease so to them it must be , even though I don't think it is

You make a good point; my ckd was undoubtedly caused by over-prescribed medication. Like an idiot, I thought "The doctor knows best" - but I have learned the hard way that he doesn't always "know best", and he admits himself that he is out of his depth as far as ckd is concerned, and that any questions I have should be directed to the Nephrology department of Dorchester hospital.

Having said this, my doc did check my blood pressure just before the ckd was diagnosed, but said that "because of my age etc...etc..." I was still within acceptable limits - which was totally wrong.

I now realize that the potential benefits of any medication have to be severely balanced against the risks (which are very great) with kidney problems.

Hi its like I said to my doc , I know my own body , I work to hard because I know at some point my battery's are going to run out , I don't take any tablets ,even though I get kidney pain , because I think its there for a reason , I have no faith in docs because they don't know what to do , have one kidney which was blocked after op went back to renal consultant in my area ,within 6 months he told me it had blocked again , I was told by consultant that did the op this is a one time op cannot be done twice , so u can guess how I was feeling , local consultant sent me back to op consultant , which told me everything was fine and renal consultant in my area was wrong , so as you can imagine my faith in docs are pretty low ,

From , it still happens to me , but its food that does it to me ,I just notice as soon as I've eaten it starts ,also I don't eat a great amount during the day ,I find I'm better to eat and not do a lot after just relax ,that helps ,hope it helps
