But i hadn't been anywhere other than to the car and back. Is this gout??? I am stage 4, does this mean that my function is getting worse?
Toe next to the little toe swelled up wi... - Early CKD Support
Toe next to the little toe swelled up with no warning and is really painful. Feels like a break!
Hi Googie Sounds like gout to me, I have had it for the last year, now under control with Febuxastat tablets daily.
What ever you do dont take any anti inflamms, my renal specialist recommends prednisalone for 5 days and this really helps but you cant have them too often. My egfr was really stable when i got it so I dont think it is an indicator of declining function. Dont use Ice as this can make things worse, codiene and paracetamol work to take the edge off for me. I havent had an episode for the last 6 months since starting the feboxastat. Hope this helps. I have great sympathy for you I know just how painful it it.
Best Regards Christine
Thank you so much. Other people don't understand. when I said I think I have gout they laughed and said only people who drink port/wine get it!! I took some panadol and it did take the edge off. No pain today but wasn't comfortable wearing my shoes, so had to swap for my flip flops!!
I will mention this when I have renal clinic in a few weeks xx
try a glass of Cherrygood cherry juice - available at all good supermarkets!
i was recommended it a year ago and have had a glass everyday since - no gout
worth a try

I get gout in my big toe its something to do with the waste products our kidneys can't get rid of. I also get gout in my knee which make walking impossible hope the pain gets better soon.
I take allopurinol for gout not had an attack for over 6 months now but on last visit to specialist she thinks I am having a mild form of gout in my ankles all the time.
