I can't manage the psychological cravings, can get to 4-5 days then talk myself into a drink, then binge! Always regret it. Any suggestions on how to manage these?

Tips to manage psychological cravings
Welcome to this community. I know right where you are. Been there. Done that. And it would happen again if I picked up a drink. Left to my own devices, if you put me in a room with a bottle, and no treatment, I would eventually have to drink it whether I wanted to or not.
I use AA. And it works for me. There are other resources out there. And you’re free to reach out for them. This forum is a good start. You’ll get some much needed support.
Keep posting and let us know what’s going on
hi not sure if you attend AA but the AA have sponsors and are always at hand to help others when needed even with the cravings.
Thank you all for your comments, looking into things I can pursue to help. Think I'm also going to find this forum a good source of support
The Big book (Alcoholics Anonymous) calls it the peculiar mental twist that precedes each spree. That pre-meditation whether to take or not that intense internal dialog and eventually succumb to the desire and then the phsyical craving takes over, we end up drunk. The chapter More about alcoholism illustrate this vicious cycle using few short stories. You may want to read and see if you can relate: aa.org/sites/default/files/...
I am at day 4 now it's tuff in the evening when I am chilled without that drink in my hand however its 10:22 now almost through day 4 👊bring on day 5 stay string alcohol abuses us let's abuse the poison 💯
That's my problem right now, I am on my sixth day sober and have been thinking about booze all day. Before we retire if we had the weekend off we would sit at the kitchen table on a Friday evening when we got in and polish off 3 or 4 bottles of red wine between us. So it became a bit of a tradition. "Friday night is wine night " So every Friday has been my failure night since I tried to stop drinking. I too would like to find a way over this psychological hurdle. Wishing you strength in your battles.
I would never drink during the week however we had a bar built in our games room massive hindrance..It got to the stage I was pouring one or three drinks every night talking on the phone then watching TV however until I started getting acid reflux..
I am now trying to stay clear of the bar area also changed my routine it's helping but weekend is a killer 🙈
