Drinking to much again

Can anyone give me some advice on giving up drinking? I’ve cut down a lot over 25 years but noticed around about this time of year i drink a lot more. In the past 4 weeks I have drank a bottle of wine every other day or sometimes every day. Compared to what a use to drink a day this is good for me. The thing is I don’t want to drink at all. I want to turn my life around again, but a the same time feel I’m not being listen too, but professionals, this may sound stupid, but I feel because I don’t work they don’t feel I’m worth spend money on for knee replacements… but if they give me knee replacements my Quality of life would be much better then and be in a better position to find work and help others. I wonder if my drinking is out of Anger and not being listened to? Can anyone relate. On Saturday 30th October 2021 I will be 49 years old. I need to make some changes. I would appreciate any advice on how I go about this I will do anything.

Have you tried any AA meetings or any meetings that helps you talk about it? When drank it wasn't pretty. I'd go home after closing the bar and get 2 hours later for work. I don't know how I did make it to work. I was in a bad place. I had to use a lot of will power to stop and I did. I think of all the money I could've had but was not thinki g clearly about it then. Hope you find the help you need to beat this disease.

Thank you for your advice. No I haven’t tried AA or meetings, because I don’t like being around people or living my home most days. I drink a bottle of wine in about 30mins. Some times I get a bit tipsy but never drunk. However, sometimes I do vomit hours later or have a headache. I made a decision on Sunday 24th October to stop drinking on Monday 25th October. So yesterday I didn’t drink. Today I will try to stick with it.

Hopefully you can have the will power to stay that way. I refused myself to have any alcohol in my home. It'd be too tempting to drink otherwise.

Thank you… I will try my best. I don’t keep alcohol at home for the very same reason… temptation.

I tried to stop drinking for decades. I asked for help, because I couldn’t do it by myself. A twelve step program helped me. There are various twelve step programs available including AA. Read the post by Dizzytwo on here. There’s a link that might help you get started. When I seriously decided to stop drinking, I asked myself how bad do I want to stop. I said I would do anything to stop. And so I did and I’m here, twenty years later, to try to help you. 🍀

Thanks for your advice! No I haven’t tired AA etc, but I am considering it, but I really can’t stand being around people. I will find the post by Dizzytwo. Well done for giving up. Hopefully I can do it too. I’m going to try and do it by myself for now and if it doesn’t work, I will definitely ask for help. Yesterday was my first day without drinking.
