hi, new to group but have been reading all your blogs šŸ˜Š anyone had experience of fatty liver? And did you cut wine intake down daily until stopped? Or did you go go cold Turkey? Really worried , awaiting blood results but need a focus. Thanks šŸ˜€

My liver counts were off the charts when I was drinking. It took two years sober before they became normal again. Luckily there was no permanent damage, as the liver can rejuvenate itself (unless severely compromised). The doctors still monitor it with every checkup.

I had to stop cold turkey (with some medical intervention). As I canā€™t just moderate.

How did your labs come out in regard to your liver? I have a fatty liver from drinking and just found out about a year ago. I donā€™t why it was never mentioned to me, but the lab tests I get every three months come back fine. I safely quit drinking in 2003 after I spent three days in a detox facility. No weaning for me, eitherā€¦.couldnā€™t do it.

Sounds like your doctors are keeping a good eye on you. Do what you need to do to stay healthy and the numbers will show it. šŸ‘šŸ¼

Thanks šŸ™šŸ½ i have downloaded so many quit books I donā€™t know where to start šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø. GP advised self referral to Turning Point , but my first telephone consult is end June !

Thatā€™s a big problemā€¦a shortage of facilities and a long wait list. I didnā€™t have insurance when I wanted to quit so AA had to do and it did. Usually facilities will refer or suggest to continue with a support group after you leave the facility. Reading about the disease of alcoholism would be a good diversion. Just close your eyes and point to a book. šŸ˜
