WRIST AND FINGER MOVEMENT AFTER A STROKE

I am new here. My partner had a stroke 12 weeks ago. He is progressing very well but has been left with very little movement in his left wrist and fingers. He has rehab 3 times a week. Any suggestions that we may be able to do to help get some movement in this hand. He is also very emotional and cries very easily is this common.

Thank you

I've had a stoke. I'm post 14 years now. The crying and possibly emotional control can be effected by the stroke. I'd be inclined to ask the Dr's where exactly was the stroke, what it damaged and what caused it. The more info you have the better.

Even after 14 years I'm still having trouble controlling my emotions. I'm on a very low dose of Lamictal which takes the edge off. Don't forget either that your partner may have PTSD. It's a huge deal having a stroke. I didn't handle it too well. I wouldn't be surprised if others can't either.

I am still working on wrist and finger movement 2.5 years post stroke. Patience and daily work are a key. The hand is the last to recover. Music Glove by Flint Rehab may help. My main hand and finger rehab is drawing and painting with my affected hand. Who cares what it looks like? Good luck!

Thank you for your post. We are now six months on and we have more movement in the fingers. He still cannot grasp anything at the moment but every week it is improving. He gets very frustrated. We have rehab 3 times a week so hopefully we will get more improvement.
