Any gout experts out there?ive had a painful ankle for a few months on and off, I get a stinging pain under my big toe,have been taking colchiccine every so often, so my question is gout or arthritis?

I had gout last year - big toe swollen and red, extremely painful could not let the bed sheet touch it. Could not get a shoe on and crying with the pain. Lasted about three to four days. I think you probably have arthritis which is quite painful but, believe me, if it was gout you would know it !!

Thx Courtley I had it in the ankle once but this keeps hanging about so I'm having MRI
