Is there a gender bias in getting diabetes ie are men more prone to diabetes

I do not think so,except that only some ladies suffer what is called gestational diabetes during pregnancy,which may later disappear.

Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes. I am interested to know if any statistical or medical research has been done to ascertain if men are more likely to contract diabetes or vice versa. I do agree prima facie it does not look like there is a gender bias but I may be wrong.
