How many times should i check my glucose level in a month?

My doctor suggested once in 4 to 5 days at different times of the day like fasting.2 hours after BF.just before lunch,two hours after lunch,just before dinner and two hours after dinner.If you keep such home records,the doctor reviews them during the quarterly check up and prescribe medications,changes in diet etc.If we keep such records,even we our self can understand our condition better.
