In the Prevention magazine of November or December 2012, I read that India (BITS Pilani) would come out with testing technology this year which costs only Rs.2 per test. Let us hope it comes out soon.

Thanks. In the event of Chinese manufacturers getting into this, I only hope the readings are consistent and correct and do not scare the patients further.

I hav been bying strips for accucheck active from local pharma market for rs. 775 for 50 strips which has an MRP of probably rs.1400. as the profit margins are very high, and diabetics are regular clients, if you negotiate well with them you can get a deal. I suggest you visit a few medicine/surgical shops that are clustered around govt. hospitals or some other old markets of most Indian towns and try negotiating.
