Want to buy a good Glucometer with reasonable priced strips

Dear All you learned users, can you please let me know which meter is accurate and has reasonably priced strips. I use 50 strips per month. I use the Thyrocare sugar scan but have a feeling it is not too accurate. What is the best way to buy - online or through local chemist shop as they might have better and latest models. If buying strips from online dealers can we get trips with long expiry date?

Would appreciate your comments

  • Buy Accucheck Active glucometer. Meter costs around 1100/- -1200/- and 100 strips around 1100/-

  • I pay Rs 1600/- for 100 strips (2 packs 50 each). Kindly advise how to get 100 strips for 1200/-

  • Thanks

  • snapdeal or flipkart has 100 strips for around 1100

  • Thank you all of you. I will go ahead and buy the Accu Chek Active and strips from ebay. Any idea if the Accuchek Active requires more blood because I lose a lot of strips with the Select Simple meter of J&J. It requires a fairly big prick and more blood. Less blood applied gives error. Less blood on the Thyrocare sugar scan meter gives low readings and more blood gives high readings!!! NOT ACCURATE!!!!

  • Thanks so much Meetu. I always wasted about 2-3 strip per 25 strips due to too little blood. Convinced about the Accuchek now. Making sure again its Accuchek Active right???

  • Considering price and accuracy Accuchek Active is the best choice. In my personal opinion One Touch Select Simple is more accurate. But strip cost is nearly double.
