Recently, I had finished reading “The 6th Target”, by James Patterson. I feel that it had been done in a way that having 3 cases going at one time and they all seemed to go together very nicely so that they flowed with no confusion for the reader. I enjoyed the story and will continue reading the rest of “The Women’s Murder Club” series in the next coming weeks/months.

For the month of October, I have decided to read “Apt Pupil”, by Stephen King. There’s a 13-year-old boy named Todd Bowden who has been delivering newspapers to neighbors and other people who lived near his home after going to school during the week and weekends. While he’s delivering the newspaper to one neighbor—Mr. Dussander, Todd and Mr. Dussander have a talk about the past and what Mr. Dussander had been doing years ago for his career/wars he fought in.

On one of the visits Todd had made to Mr. Dussander’s house, Todd brought both of them some food he got on the way home from school/delivering the newspaper for that day. They talked about what he had learned at the library and that a librarian almost didn’t let Todd go into a section of the library because he wasn’t an adult. She changed her mind after Todd had said it was for a school report/assignment. The librarian had called Todd’s father to check to make sure this was the truth before letting him finally go to the section and get what he was looking for at the time.

We’ll have to see what happens next.

Okay, now off to you. What have you been reading or plan to read? The next book I plan to read is: “Mr. Mercedes”, by Stephen King. “Mr. Mercedes” is the first book from the Bill Hodges Trilogy.

I sense a real love of Stephen King here, Activity. I am reading an introductory book of Welsh stories -- written in Welsh, of course (wrth gwrs!) -- as I do my best to learn the language. It is called "Aros y Drws" ("Open the Door"), and I love it, even though I can only manage a page or so each day. Otherwise I am reading books on art and painting. I am particularly enjoying Ian Roberts' "Mastering Composition". To be honest, what with more than a little academic reading I do, that is enough for me.

This sounds really great about the Welsh books and painting, BrentW . How long are the Welsh books you're reading/using?

I've been a Stephen King fan for a very long time. My first Stephen King book I read was: "Carrie".

The stories in my Welsh book are very short 00 maybe five or six pages long. But I love them. There was a woman who wanted potatoes (Tatws) for Christmas Dinner. Her partner saw the shopping list with the word tatw (tatoo), and so arranged one for her, not knowing her fear of needles. Never before have I laughed at a story in a language new to me. I am so looking forwards to being able to have conversations, no matter how simple. I can now say "Pan ro'n i'n blentyn. . . " (when I was a child). Do you think that's a conversation starter or stopper?

I have never read any Stephen King. I really like Martin Cruz Smith. Just looking him up in Wikipedia, I discovered that he has a new novel I have not read, "The Siberian Dilemma". I have just ordered it.

How many books did Martin Cruz Smith write? Has he done a series or are they all stand alone books/stories?

I think it would be interesting if a person said "Pan ro'n i'n blentyn. . . " (when I was a child)". It depends on where in the conversation it was going to be used, though.

He wrote a whole series of books about the detective Arkady Renko. I find them fascinating, not only as detective stories, but as commentary on contemporary Russia.

Been doing okay, but been busy lately. How are you feeling?

This afternoon, I finished reading: "Apt Pupil", by Stephen King. The story had a very interesting and surprising ending to it. It's not your average Stephen King story, but it was very good, anyway. It shows how some situations/people aren't how we expect them to be all the time. I enjoyed the story and was surprised about how many twists everything had gone. This is one of the shorter stories that Stephen King has written.

My next story I plan to start is "Mr. Mercedes". It is also written by Stephen King and is 430+ pages long. Can't wait to see what happens very soon.
