Steroids may increase your blood sugar level and also blood pressure. The most commonly used immunosuppressive agent for the treatment of MG is prednisone. Observational studies, clinical experience, and limited controlled trials suggest that prednisone usage leads to remission or marked improvement in 70% to 80% of patients with ocular or generalized MG.

In chronic autoimmune conditions such as myasthenia gravis (MG), immunosuppression--usually long-term--is often necessary. ... Azathioprine is often the first-choice drug for long-term immunosuppression, and it is usually started together with steroids to allow tapering of steroids to the lowest dose possible.

Consult your doctor.

Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disorder where you're required to take prescribed medication regularly. Unfortunately, this steroids cause blood glucose to rise. In this case, please consult your doctor if he can prescribe different types of medication or other treatments that doesn't affect BG. I hope you would be able to avoid the relapse of myasthenia gravis as well as keeping blood glucose levels in control. If you have been taking diabetes medications, please ensure to maintain healthy lifestyle with low carb diet and exercise routines that suit your health conditions, strength and mobility. Take care.
