Triglynase 1 banned
The drug triglynase which was banned contained Glimeperide , Pioglitazone and metformin.
The alternative from some established pharma company as follows:
1. FORMIN PG 1mg from Alkem
2.GEMER P 1 mg from sun pharma
3. Glimy MP 1 mg from Dr Reddy lab
Please consult your doctor before starting any alternative brand though these have exactly the same composition.
Also please minimise your medication as far as possible and control your blood sugar by proper diet and exercise and change in your life style
Any reason why it was banned?.Any other combination drug with the same combination will carry the same disadvantage. Please think about it.
Pioglitazone was banned way back in 2013 as it was suspected to cause bladder cancer. But I think after patients and doctors plea, govt reintroduced.
Thereafter in 2016, the combo drug containing Glimeperide, Pioglitazone and metformin was banned.
But I am surprised how still this combo drug is available from some pharma majors like sun pharma, dr Reddy lab, Alkem, though Triglynase from USV is not available.
Can anyone throw some light ???
And if it is marketed in USA and Europe ?
Whether USFDA has withdrawn it's approval.??
Can US members throw some light ?.
Yes, I find the combo drug under discussion has been reintroduced in indian market with the following riders:
(1) should not be used as first line therapy. Only if it is a must , it should be administered
(2) people with any bladder issue should not be given this drug
(3) to be avoided for elders
There are currently at least a dozen company are manufacturing and marketing this product, though Triglynase from USV continue to be banned.

My doctor prescribed me Tribet from Abbott which has the same composition of Metaformin, Glimeperide and Pioglitazone. Some countries in Europe has already banned this drug more than a year back, I asked the doctor to change, he said if you have no bad symptoms no need to change. Now I am seriously thinking to change...
When Triglynase I is banned why not 2 . Funny govt? They want public to suffer ?when I was talking the same drug with 2
Severe side effects. I stopped it taking. Will the govt ban on two also.
What about Glynase mf Is it also banned?
