Your numbers indicate that your blood sugar is in the diabetic range. You should make an appointment with your Doctor and take his advice if medications are required. Your numbers are not very high and you should be able to control your blood sugar level by following some dietary and lifestyle changes and come off medications.
Please let us know your age, height and weights so that members of this group may offer further help.
Please confirm your height - is it 5 feet and 11inches?
Yes
Thanks. As such your BMI is 24.6 and generally 25 and above is overweight. However, as we Indians are more prone to diabetes we should aim for BMI less than 22.9 unless you are muscular.
You should immediately start low carb diets and be physically active. At the same time, you should discuss with your Doctor if any more tests are required in view of your young age e.g. if you are insulin deficient.
Diabetes is diagnosed with the following blood tests:--
Fasting blood glucose level -- diabetes is diagnosed if it is higher than 126 mg/dL two times
Random (nonfasting) blood glucose level -- you may have diabetes if it is higher than 200 mg/dL, and you have symptoms such as increased thirst,
urination, and fatigue (this must be confirmed with a fasting test)
Oral glucose tolerance test -- diabetes is diagnosed if the glucose level is higher than 200 mg/dL after 2 hours
Hemoglobin A1c test
Normal: Less than 5.7%
Pre-diabetes: Between 5.7% and 6.4%
Diabetes: 6.5% or higher.
Your fasting blood sugar (FBS) and HbA1c are high. Hence you can be considered as Type 2 diabetic. During initial stages, type 2 diabetes can be controlled by diabetic diet and aerobic exercise.
Gradual weight loss is recommended to maintain a healthy body weight. Even a small weight loss (just 10 percent of your current weight) will help to lower your risk of developing diseases associated with being overweight.
