High HB 1AC

My HB 1 AC is surprisingly 11.5. I didnot felt any problem. I am not taking sugar for last 3 years. I am a marathoner too and walk daily for almost 5 km.Can any one suggest how to tackle this .

I suggest, you test it again from a reliable laboratory and only if results are similar, think of corrective action.

Chances of such HBA1C for someone exercising regularly and not feeling sluggish is not very high.

HE IS CORRECT .GO TO A RELIABLE LABORATORY.I FEEL IT IS A FIT CASE FOR YOU.

Check FPBS it is more than 126 then you are diabetic

Diabetes is diagnosed with the following blood tests:--

Fasting blood glucose level -- diabetes is diagnosed if it is higher than 126 mg/dL two times

Random (nonfasting) blood glucose level -- you may have diabetes if it is higher than 200 mg/dL, and you have symptoms such as increased thirst, urination, and fatigue (this must be confirmed with a fasting test)

Oral glucose tolerance test -- diabetes is diagnosed if the glucose level is higher than 200 mg/dL after 2 hours

Hemoglobin A1c test

Normal: Less than 5.7%

Pre-diabetes: Between 5.7% and 6.4%

Diabetes: 6.5% or higher

when i got diagnosed diabetic with Hba1c 13+ I was not feeling any symptoms..
