U had mentioned avoid Beet but I read Beets are exceptionally good for diabetics who suffer from high cholesterol , high blood pressure and/or are at risk to cardiovascular diseases . ... Both these nutrients help lower glucose levels, which is very helpful for diabetes patients.
Can experts comment Mr Gangadharan
General recommendation is all root vegetables are rich in carbohydrates and hence to be avoided or sparingly used..GI of beet is 64.You may recall that in European countries, sugar is extracted from beet roots like in sugarcane.Undoubtedly, beet does have excellent nutrition values, but does it outweigh the carb boost,if consumed as a dish?In the present case also, with PPBS of 291,I strongly believe that beet is best avoided. But if anybody has some contrary experience, let us keep an open mind.
GLIMULIN MF TABLET (GLENMARK) comes with a composition(formula) of Glimepiride 1 MG+Metformin 500 MG.
Glimepiride is used along with diet and exercise, and sometimes with other medications, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Glimepiride lowers blood sugar by causing the pancreas to produce insulin (a natural substance that is needed to break down sugar in the body) and helping the body use insulin efficiently. This medication will only help lower blood sugar in people whose bodies produce insulin naturally.
Metformin is used alone or with other medications, including insulin, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Metformin is in a class of drugs called biguanides. Metformin helps to control the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood. It decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood.
You should control high blood sugar by diabetic diet and aerobic exercise. Anti-diabetic medications control blood sugar only up to 50%.
Check your blood sugar daily till it becomes below 100 mg/dL.
Do not consume food after 7:00 pm.
Eat less food more times in a day.
Engage in brisk walking for about 30 minutes in a day.
If you are overweight, reduce the same and maintain a normal weight. Your body mass index (BMI) should be less than 25.
