Getting scared is psychological but does not help.Consult a good doctor and follow his advice on diet, medicine , and exercise. With these precautions you can live as long as a non diabetic

Is there any point in getting scared? For one thing, you lose your equanimity and along with it capacity to judge things properly. You tend to make mistakes when you get agitated..Need not take your problem casually, but tackle it with a sense of acceptance.Whether you like it or not it is a fact of your life.Handle it with a cool mind so that you will make right judgements and face least problems out of it.Getting diabetes is not the end of the world, but it cannot be brushed aside also. There are people like Waasim Kram,Tom Hanks,Sonam Kapoor,Hally Berry and so many others who have led wonderful lives living with diabetes. So,first and foremost become thoroughly knowledgeable about diabetes,You will learn to live with it and successfully. On this website itself there is so much information that is just a click away

I was very scared just like you 11 years ago when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Receiving a well information of this condition and the right treatment from health professionals helped me to overcome my fear and followed those medical and lifestyle advice in order to keep blood sugar in healthy ranges. I have witnessed some diabetics both T1 and T2 who can live very long as long as they keep BSL under controls. Those who fail doing this would end up with serious health complications. So I would say stand up for yourself girl, make the right decision from the beginning by taking control of your health. Apart from consulting a doctor who can help you with treatments and advice, there are also plenty of information available on Internet as well as many different views, advice and supports from young and old diabetics from this forum.

I hope you are feeling a bit more relaxed and please do not hesitate to ask any questions or concerns you may have. We are here to learn and share from each other.

Over time, people who have diabetes and high blood sugar can develop serious or life-threatening complications, including heart disease, stroke, kidney problems, nerve damage, and eye problems. Taking medication(s), making lifestyle changes (e.g., diet, exercise, quitting smoking), and regularly checking your blood sugar may help to manage your diabetes and improve your health. This therapy may also decrease your chances of having a heart attack, stroke, or other diabetes-related complications such as kidney failure, nerve damage (numb, cold legs or feet; decreased sexual ability in men and women), eye problems, including changes or loss of vision, or gum disease. Your doctor and other healthcare providers will talk to you about the best way to manage your diabetes.

Do not lose hope, i am 25 yr old female, i am diabetic from 19, only thing is never loose hope on yourself, walk for 40 mins, reduce your rice intake, and do never get tensed, that will also shoot up. Avoid any food content which has even little sugar content. Eat on time with regular intervals.

what are your readings.? if you are put up on insulin, do not worry, it will motivate you and also if you maintain diet and proper medications you will be controlled in short time. ( this is what my doctor told me). Even for the medications to work we should be mentally strong, certain things in life, we cant decide, but we can control our-self. Please stay in touch for any assistance, required. Do not worry be strong. you will live long.
