....The basic underlying treatment concepts in diabetes include a strict diet, exercise and weight loss.....
....The exact scientific mechanism through which yoga can control diabetes is not very clear. Some believe that the stretches can stimulate the pancreas to rejuvenate and form new cells that are more active in releasing insulin. This insulin release allows for better breakdown of sugars in the diet along with better utilization of glucose by the cells and tissues (Sahay, 1988).
A more complicated explanation is the relaxation experienced through yoga can bring about changes in the way the brain regulates the pancreatic function. It is also believed that the relaxed muscles that have a better blood supply after yoga can increase the number of insulin receptors on the cells. This increased number allows for better uptake of glucose by the muscles, which in turn reduces blood sugar levels (Balaji, 2011).
Seasoned yoga performers have lower levels of Lectin, a compound that promotes inflammation. Inflammation is the root cause of atherosclerosis in diabetes, and by reducing its levels, heart disease can be reduced.....

I absolutely love this post, thanks cure for sharing it. I strongly recommend everyone to practice yoga if it is applicable and make it routinely as part of our lives. It is beneficial for both diabetic and non-diabetic people.
Yoga is the best gift given to us by our rishi munies. It's pure science. I'm gonna recommend soon to the government that there must be one hour yoga class daily in every school. Routinely we use only 60-70% of our lung capacity. By yoga we can open the basal parts of the lungs and can use upto 90-95% of the lung capacity. The oxygen acts as match stick. So more oxygen more efficient utilization of the fuels.
And exercise keeps body fit and fine.
Also our slokas and mantras have great capacity. But we have forgotten our heritage. There is science in both yogas and mantras.
Bhai suramo Yogi is going to make it compulsory in UP
Hope media should not misunderstood his honest motive behind this and color it saffron
LOL
but let me tell u.... at childhood... my body was very flexible...(even now..I can do ardha matsendrasan...not very good but still ok) then in school i use to wonder and always thought Yoga as useless thing... now I understand Yoga is useful....
So rather teaching Yoga to kids..most beneficial thing would be to teach that to middle age It professionals and executives..
By the way what is connection of this Yogi with diabetes??? any guess???
Ardha matseyndrasan which is said to be most beneficial for diabetes was created by Yogi Gorakhnath...this yogi is from the same line... an authority of Hath yoga...
I will have to try to find time to start yoga! Thanks for posting this!
two more asanas -----matsyasana and vipareethakarani are very useful for a diabetic . Vipareethakarani and sarvangasana even help to get rid of thyroid malfunction with out any medicines
Hidden if we look closely at each posture...you will find thru various 'Asanas'/postures pressure is created on affected internal organs...
As it is suggested Ardha matsyendrasan is useful for diabetes... we can see thru the posture pressure is created on liver and area around liver...similarly.in 'Viparitkarani' or 'sarvangasana' pressure is created around Thyroid glands...
But i certainly like you to rule this country. @Cure you too.
I'm seldom going to banks so don't mind imposing entry fee to banks 😃😃. Anything not paid should be officially declared as "freebies like Russia and then make sure everyone is not a bonded labor like in China 😁😁😁😁. Pay for everything. Even air. Invent a machine that measures how much oxygen one has consumed and how much air pollution one has created. We will earn lots of money. Not a bad idea 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁.
there are few variations...like if u see in pic the girl is just making bless posture with one hand... but in reality we have to press then knee and hold the toe... to create pressure around liver and pancreas... on other side I guess same way will create pressure on spleen??
further at the same time other hand should touch the thigh...which means turning spine maximum...
