This may be the most irrelevant subject when it comes to diabetes… I mean goal setting? It’s got NOTHING TO DO with counting calories, finger prick tests, A1C results and proteins…carbohydrates… or anything related to reversing your diabetes.
You see, this is a SIMPLE but VERY IMPORTANT step you must complete before you cook your first meal, take your blood tests, exercise and etc… Foods for diabetics actually become medicine for diabetics.
If you take the time to successfully complete this simple yet important step…the foods, eating and cooking will come easily and stabilizing blood sugar levels and leaner body will soon follow.
However, if you ignore or take this step for granted…you will not achieve the results you want or fail no matter what you do or how hard you try.
THIS IS WHERE KNOWING YOUR OUTCOME AND GOAL SETTING makes the distinct difference between success and failure.
Oh by the way, you can apply this practically in any aspect of your life be in health, business, career, relationships, money and etc. This stuff works and it is so simple!
While a lot has been said on goal setting and achieving them…many books and programs have been written and produced solely on the topic but the truth is most people never decide exactly what they want… they just follow what their doctors, bosses, spouse, parents and friends tell them to do.
Look at the goal setting as a tool and process towards achieving to lower your A1C, blood sugar levels , etc. and to eat healthily and eventually reverse your diabetes into full remission.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
---------------------
Let me share with you a personal story of mine that has nothing to do with diabetes/eating healthily…in 2005, after aimlessly going through life without achieving much… I decided to set 10 major goals for 2006 and many of them were exciting yet scary....to cut the long story short… on 31st Dec 2006 I achieved 7 of the 10 goals I’ve set a year ago… had I not set these goals in the first place I’M VERY CERTAIN I WOULD NOT HAVE ACHIEVED ANYTHING IN 2006…except a repetition of 2005… plain mediocre aimless-nothing-to-look-forward-to year.

HOW TO SET GOALS!
------------------
In any endeavor you want to achieve, you need to set goals…corporations do it, athletes do it, without goals life is nothing but aimless jail term. When you set goals and internalizing it your mind and spirit, you invoke your subconscious mind to achieve this goal whatever it takes alike a guided missile to a target.
Your subconscious mind will take any instructor you give it (whether negative or positive) and yes it will find all ways to achieve your outcome,…of course you have to keep focusing on the goal and we’ll discuss more about how to achieve your goal step by step.
For any goal to be turned from a dream to reality… it has to be:
1. MEASURABLE
2. EMOTIONAL
3. PRECISE
4. SPECIFIC
5. ATTAINABLE
6. TIME FOCUSED
JUST A LITTLE MORE ON GOALS
Let your creative juices flow… just imagine a world of endless possibilities…ask for the sky… dream big!
You will hear many people who tell you it can’t be done or try to pull you down!..Yes I know they are your friends but those are YOUR GOALS & not theirs… shut them out for a moment a concentrate on yourself…
If you really want it badly and willing to work for it…make it yours by setting it as your goal!
Set goals for the short term, medium term and long term.
Take a day off, just spend the time thinking about your goals, what is it that you really want? Lower fasting blood sugars, lower A1C, lose 30 pounds by when?
You also need to have shorter term goals like weekly and daily to let you know if you’re on track. Weekly goals provide immediate feedback to tell you whether you’re moving in the right direction.
Daily measurements of fast blood sugar levels will indicate an average weekly and monthly to give a more accurate reading over the long term to see whether you’re moving in the right direction for a lower HbA1C reading.
For longer term goals.... Take baby steps, it’s not how big the task is… it’s the matter of MAKING PROGRESS… take one little step one at a time… and you wont be overwhelmed.
Like the saying , “a journey of a thousand miles begin with a single step” -- Every step you take, no matter how small, will give you a feeling of accomplishment.
Set goals to become better than you used to be, NOT better than someone else, or to prove someone else you’re right or you’re better.
As you get into the habit of achieving goals, keep aiming to better yourself. Constantly challenge yourself!
Work on constant and never-ending improvement. Make this process a fun game!
