A lot of plants do lower blood sugar, but their effects are usually minimal. If you combine it with other steps, they will help, of course. Bitter melon/gourd (Mormodica charantia), curry leaves (Morraya Koneigi), Jamun (Sizygium jumbolanum), Neem (Azadiracta indica), drumstick (Moringa) have all been extensively studied and found to be useful in reducing blood glucose levels. They usually bring it down by no more than 5 points though.

Bitter Melon had no effect on me! Or it was so insignificant that I thought it to be useless?

Please purchase a good glucometer and measure it by taking a desired quantity of bitter melon and measure.Take at least for seven days and report it here.I have seen that a particular food suiting for one is not suiting for other.Better follow LCHF diet.It is 100% sure. Thanks.

Effect of bitter melon varies people to people and it can never be a replacement for any prescribed medicine for diabetics. Of course, for prediabetics it could be used, if it is effective for a particular person.

The best is to

-Reduce the unhealthy carbohydrates cakes, cereal (especially sugary), crackers, jams, white flour items (bread), refined potato, and sugary drinks

-Increase healthy carbohydrates (whole fruit, vegetables, legumes (beans, nuts, peas and lentils), potatoes and whole grains

-In lieu of high fat (HF part of LCHF) from animal products, increase salad, vegetable and beans consumption (e.g. Garbanzo: Cha'na)

-Minimize the intake of FAT (animal or oil based) as well to avoid coronary related issues. Best oil type is olive, flex seed, avocado, canola, sesame, grape seed, walnut oil. Coconut oil should be taken with caution especially if one is experiencing coronary issues.
