I think An apple/day can also be eaten.
if your suger is under control you can eat apple, orange, water melon (advised by gangadharan), papay, berries. i am predibetic. some times i eat mango also and for two hours i don't eat any food. quantity and type of fruit you have to decide. conduct some trials using glycometer check sugar level after two hours eating fruit and adjust yourself. sugar level should be close to 140

There is so much mis conception among diabetes people regarding consuming fruits that it needs a separate blog to explain..

A very look at the GI and fructose content is needed before fruits are given green signal or red signal.
However moderate quantity of apple can be eaten by diabetes people. Watermelon has the highest GI.
Our goal should be to reduce sugar spikes in blood ( as a result of high GI foods.)
One research paper advises people to eat fruits ( if at all you want to eat ) with a slight amount of fat , such as cheese... The idea is to reduce the rate of absorption...
