I am recently seeing people loosing memory. People are forgetting to do what they want to do a minute ago too. I too am experiencing this. Is any one in this forum experience such thing. Just got a feeling, it might be due to the ubiquitous signals due to the mobile networks and mobile phones. ( and not sure if wireless networks too might be adding to this phenomenon).
MEMORY: I am recently seeing people loosing... - Diabetes India
MEMORY
I remember in my younger days we had one very popular nick name-"absent minded professor"There were no gizmos in those days. Also remember the story of Newton who wanted to measure the time it takes to boil an egg. What he did was to drop his stop watch in the boiling water and holding the egg in his hand. There is nothing new in this. The mind is occupied with only one subject at a time and therefore it has to flit from one subject to another depending on it's relevance at that point of time.In that process of flitting, one might forget a thing or two.It is a natural process.Another point is,forgetting is a process of learning.Unless we forget,we cannot learn new things. Forgetting, is in that sense, a great boon for humanity.
Lastly, let us not talk about all those husbands who practice "selective memory loss" depending on exigencies.Probably, the cell tower emissions will become another excuse for their frequent memory losses.
Exceptions are seen in the past. In the past we used to call such people as scientists or professors etc nick names as they used to be exceptions which generally happens due to thinking on various subjects simultaneously by some. But now, I am seeing it is prevalent almost all the people i am coming across including young boys.
I also experience the same thing, I forget the things instantly, a minute ago I decide to do something but suddenly I forgets the thing, but the memory of past is still strong, but sometimes I feel like that my memory power is getting week day by day, may be it's an effect of Diabetes or Age, i.e. if I hear a song which is one of my favorites and I try to remember the singer then I've to think a lot and sometimes I can't even remember the names of the persons I met few days back, If anyone can suggest any exercise or any remedy to this then please do....thanks
Ask your doctor for Vit B12 injections/tablets (Trineurosal-cum-multi vitamin). He will ask you to test for Vit. B12 to find how much deficient you are.. Many these days suffer with lack of this vitamin which leads to Dementia /Alzheimer disease. He will start you on a course of these injections. I too was found deficient of this vitamin and my doctor told me once the deficiency is made up I'll myself know the difference. I must admit here that I feel the difference. I am surprised by the way my memory has improved and moreover I feel very alert and active. The injection is painful but worth it for the many benefits we would enjoy. I request all on the forum to go for this test in consultation with your doctor.
This is a good joke
Is this specifically connected to this forum, where we discuss about diabetes? are we talking about gradual changes in memory or that happening due to changes in life style? As a general rule, we will remember what we want to remember, in normal cases.
The point raised by Yvjanard is not clear.
Pollution, stress, ' INTEREST and/or motivation', overload, disappointment with remembering may all be responsible! I do not recall any scientific study attributing it to well managed diabetes. Even fifteen/twenty years before running into blood glucose issue, I remember my memory of events fifteen years earlier was more vivid than current and the same pattern prevails. Sorry, I ,ay not have been of any help.
Generally problem being faced is very short term memory though we are able to remember old things quite well.
Yes yvjansard. Today's event I will recall in greater detail after sometime, if past trend prevails. However, last year I took Vitamin B Complex pills for a hundred days. Yesterday I got supplies for 30 days and restarted today. I found Centrum very useful. For the next 30 days I shall take Theragran Ultra in lieu of Centrum because I perceive it to have anti oxidants relevant to diabetes.
your thoughts are faster than actions.
Loosing memory is usual now a days for all people irrespective of age or a patient.Ofcourse I am also feeling the same.Sometimes it take days to find out a thing misplaced and forgotten ..If it is of any effect of these networks and mobile phones ,then I am afraid of our generation to come .To my experience I am sure we can overcome from this loosing memory by doing everything in a systematic way.
Dear All,
I also experience this quite often now a days. I used to lift the telephone and ring the number, but by the time I hear the voice at the other end I forget to whom I rang up. Similarly I forgot the names easily and end up in embarassment. Thanks for the B vitamin suggestion.
B12 absorption problem is mostly when you are taking metformin. But with injections and sublingual tablets there is no problem.
first you did not mention your age. During aging some people after 70 years loose their memory (only exception is manmohan singh.)
sir, i am in late 40's. I am seeing this phenomena in men, women, boys in 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. Above the age of 60, generally we don't worry about that issue. We consider that as normal/common for senior and super senior citizens.
My father had an excellent memory at time of his death, age 79. In fact, his memory came alive as his hepatitis advanced...It would be nice to know if there is some special food or drug Manmohan Singh takes...
I TOO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. MY AGE IS 62. I BELIEVE DUE TO THE DIABETIC IT INCREASES EVERY DAY. I COULD RECOLLECT AND REMEMBER THE OLD EVENTS. BUT RECENT HAPPENINGS I COULD NOT. NAMES ARE QUICKLY FORGOTTEN. AT THE SAME TIME, THE INSULTS, BAD EXPERIENCE, SINS AND UNSUCCESSFUL EVENTS ALWAYS LINGER IN THE MIND. . I REQUEST THE FORUM MEMBERS TO GIVE YOUR VALUABLE SUGGESTION TO OVERCOME THE SAME.
LOL
Aren't we sarcastic here ?
