Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is a difficult condition to treat. Not one single medicine is effective in all persons.Gabapentin, which you are taking, tramadol and ibrufen400 mg are all able to give relief in different persons.

Apart from medicines please take good care of your foot.Observe it ,including sole, very carefully every morning and before going to bed.If foot is dry use moisturiser cream.Take care of nails.Always wear soft and comfortable shoes.

As already advised take alpha Lipoic acid and multivitamin .

With same complaint I press my foot firmly on ground ofcourse with diabetic shoes and go for walking at 5.00 AM sharp for an hour.If I skip walking for any reason the pain persists.

Homeopathy medicines are best suited for Diabetic Neuropathy, provided your Hb1AC is below 5.6. Consult a good homeopathy doctor.

Hi biswajitbasu,

As the name of the problem indicates, the basic reason is prolonged/high DIABETES. Hence any compartmentalised approach to treat/rectify the aftereffect alone, leaving the prime-mover (primary cause) is of very limited use - if at all there is any use.

Same is true in case of diabetic retinopathy, diabetic gangrene, diabetic nephropathy etc. That is why I chose a different route (an unbeaten track) & got my Diabetes cured in a matter of three years.

People take things very lightly in the case of early days of Diabetes either due to ignorance or due to misguidance/cheating or due to unfounded/improper courage & run frantically once damage is happened.

If you keep a piece of paper or cloth very close to a choola or fire, it is only a question of time as to when it will catch fire. Closer the fire, faster it will happen. Once caught fire, you may be knowing that it is almost impossible to reverse it & bring back the paper or cloth to its original state; at best we can prevent further damage & save the remaining.

Now the question is how to save the remaining? One thing is clear that what had been followed by you so far is not sufficient for that. I was a diabetic patient during 2006. As nobody could offer me a cure, I discovered a way out & cured my diabetes in three years - that is by the year 2009.

my diet here appropedia.org/Diabetes_mel... LWMDR and my diabetes history there

appropedia.org/Diabetes_mel... AND there

appropedia.org/Diabetes_mel...

IF ANY ONE START LWMDR, DO NOT STOP PRESENT MEDICATION ABRUPTLY; IT WILL CAUSE THE BLOOD SUGAR TO SHOOT UP. TAPER DOWN (REDUCE) MEDICINES GRADUALLY DEPENDING ON REDUCTION OF BLOOD SUGAR, AS PER YOUR DOCTOR'S ADVICE OR BASED ON YOUR JUDGEMENT IN CONSULTATION WITH ME. LWMDR is not just drinking Long Wheat Mash, it is a Diet Regimen. One has to follow associated restrictions also since Long Wheat does not have muscle power like chemical drugs.

Curing Diabetes is like driving, swimming or bicycling; guidance & supervision are highly desirable while learning.

Please report progress for the benefit of others.

There is not a single allopathic medicine without side effect. That should not deter a person from taking medicine .when a person suffers from intense pain, there is nothing in mind except to get a relief.

As a general principle pain killers should be avoided. An overdose and continued prolonged use is definite NO.

Apart from pain killers many other types of medicine are available which can be used for peripheral neuropathy.

What are the alternatives to pain killers for Severe DPN?

Sorry to know about your batchmate.

But why was he taking pain killer, self medication or under prescription! Was he an alcoholic ?

Actually Tylenol iirc is paracetamol with codein.Ten tabs of paracetamol at a time is known to cause irreversible liver damage.

By the way we have drifted away from peripheral neuritis .

Neuracel helps relieve 70% of DPN pain in few days, without any side effects.

True, after using Brufen 400 and other pain killers for about 3 months, to relieve DPN pain, I found my Creatinine levels in the blood had risen to 2.3 (indicating high toxicity affecting my kidneys). So, I gave up pain killers altogether and in 3 months the Creatinine levels came down to 1.7/I'm a Type II diabetic for 25 years and am 75 now.
