how can we diagnose it clinically? Have any method? Drs said to me that Type of diabets are not important. But i want to know it.

There are three types of diabetes:

1.Type 1 also called early onset or juvenile diabetes. This appears at a very young age and the person has to depend on insulin injections for life because his pancreatic gland is totally incapable of producing any insulin.Insulin is essential for converting glucose that we consume into energy.

2.Type 2. This occurs at a later stage in life ,generally after 30 years of age.The reasons could be genetic, sedentary life style, obesity and high stress for prolonged periods or a combination of all.

3.Gestational diabetes occurs in some pregnant women and may disappear after child birth.Obviously, they need special care and monitoring.

C-peptide is measured to tell the difference between insulin produced by the body and insulin injected into the body. When the pancreas produces insulin, it starts off as a large molecule. This molecule splits into two pieces: insulin and C-peptide. The function of C-peptide is not known.

Normal results:--

Insulin C- peptide level: 0.5 to 2.0 ng/mL (nanograms per milliliter)

C-peptide values are based on the blood sugar level. C-peptide is a sign that the body is producing insulin. Low values (or no insulin C-peptide) indicate that your pancreas is producing little or no insulin.

Newly diagnosed diabetes patients often get their C-peptide levels measured as a means of distinguishing type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

How can we clinically diagnosed type 1/2

There are certain symptoms you have to lookout for, such as excessive thirst, itchiness, even small wounds not healing normally and a general lack of energy. Some times these symptoms may not be apparent, particularly in the early stages. If you want to be sure, visit a good diagnostic laboratory in the morning on empty stomach and give blood and urine samples.Have normal breakfast and then again after one and half to two hours exactly after food, give another sample of blood and urine. The laboratory will give you the results of blood sugar levels by evening.Compare the results with the normal range applicable to a non-diabetic and it will be clear to you whether you are a diabetic or not. Cinfirmation with lab testing is definitely recommended for all those with family history of diabetes, obese people and those facing excessive tension on a regular basis.I suggest you log into website called webmd.com and subscribe to their newsletter. They are very informative.
