High sugar on prednisone

After taking my 13 mg of pred my sugar. Goes up to 12 and then can climb higher until about 8 pm it starts to go back to normal in morning before pills I am in the 5’s my aic1 is 6.5 I think I should be treated but dr say it’s the pred

Yes, it’s more than likely the prednisone. My sister was on long-term prednisone and she had to be started on insulin to control her sugar. If you’re on prednisone short-term, your sugar should stabilize again when you finish your dosing if the prednisone. I hope you have a great weekend!

It'll be the pred causing high sugars. I have a steroid infusion as part of another procedure from time to time and my sugars go through the roof. To deal with that the diabetes people have shown me how to monitor the levels and inject the rapid action insulin once the upward trend is obvious. They're probably in the best place to advise.
