Eliminate all processed foods. Swap white carbohydrates (rice, potato, pasta etc) for green vegetables. Up healthy natural fats - butter, cheese, nuts, olive oil.

Research LCHF:

Is there a strong history of diabetes in your family? if so it might mean that MODY diabetes runs in your family.  MODY is genetic and it is a dominant gene which means that if you have the gene then you will develop the diabetes whatever you do.  There are a number of different variants and I think it is relatively easy to get tested for them.  With some the effect in terms of diabetes is easily controlled by diet but others require medication.

MODY is frequently mistaken for either type 1 or type 2 - particularly type 2 because it starts later in life.  About 2% of diabetics actually have a MODY variant.  It is useful to know if it is MODY and which variant as they respond to different treatments.

diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to-di...  it means Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young and is a form of diabetes caused by an inherited mutated gene known to strike people under 25.

There are at least 7 different genetic variants involved in MODY diabetes - the one that runs in my family actually has an onset between the ages of 30 and 45, so it is misleading to imply that it affects only people under 25.

Suzieblue - suggest that you click on the link in my post which I think is the same as the link linlow supplied.

MODY accounts for about 2% of the diabetic population and is frequently misdiagnosed as either type1 or type2
