My husband has just been to the opticians and she has said to him that she can see a black dot at the back of the eye and she said he must go to the Dr and get his blood presure gone plus his sugar level done' Should we be worried

If he is he has to get his blood sugar under control whether through diet/drugs or both.
First thing is diagnosis.
Whilst its preferable to try and reduce blood glucose levels by diet and exercise alone, if possible, there is nothing wrong with using metformin to help as it also helps with heart protection and is used in lots of other conditions and illnesses too.
I am due my next diabetic retinopathy eye test next month, luckily my eyes have been good the last 4 years but its always possible that they may have deteriorated which is why I try to keep my BGs in the "normal" range as much as possible.
This can be dangerous to eyesight if not taken precautions early please approach docotr
Hi thanks everybody for replying but we were delta a really big problem .husband went to Dr said blood pressure was 220/118 sent him straight to hospital long and short of it is he has renal failure stage 4 egfr 14 and enlarged prostrate making him hold urine in bladder. They put a catheter in and put him on the list for tarp then sent home. help going out of my mind.
